This is 'Chelle, Michelle or Chellers, aka spectrosity from deviantART. Welcome to my personal LiveJournal account!

This shall be mostly friends only, for I probably will be posting 'super top secret' snippets from my fantastically Western/steampunk/fantasy novel-in-progress, miscellaneous short stories, etc. Real life stuff pops up every once in a while, let's just hope it doesn't get too depressing, yeah?

Please leave a comment as to who you are; introduce yourself so I don't get confused and my poor brain won't explode. Yes. <3 DO IT.

Excellent question!

I figured I would put this little tidbit up for any new faces who are directed to my LiveJournal and might be interested in reading my new love interest. I will be spending most, if not all, of 2009 on writing this story, so there will be updates aplenty. If you have any non-spoilery questions regarding Boot Hill, feel free to post them here.

***

Boot Hill is a novel in progress written by yours truly, though is the brainchild of both myself and lone_momo, with the loving character assistance of everlu. The story would not be what it is today without their help. The end product should be approximately 90,000-150,000 words*. I will be posting snippets under a friends-lock, so if you are interested in receiving updates regarding the story, I suggest you take the necessary precautions.

HAVE YOU ADDED ME AND HAVE I ADDED YOU BACK? GOOD. HERE ARE THE CHAPTERS FOR YOUR PERUSAL.

CHAPTER ONE

Summary
Genre:
Western/steampunk, with more than a touch of gun-toting action, fantasy, electricity, adventure and maybe, just maybe, a bit of romance.

Boot Hill: A common name for the burial grounds of gunfighters, or those who "died with their boots on."

Welcome to Nesot, a country where magic has dissipated, the aristocracy's hold is loosening and turmoil has sprouted amid its civilians. Among them is Lindsay Madoc, a withdrawn albeit talented young doctor. Sudden rumors that the now extinct magic still exists within Lindsay quickly spreads to the attentions of the four families ruling over Nesot, who have been vying for supremacy ever since magic collapsed. Fearing his arrest or worse, Lindsay flees from the city he's been raised in. He seeks refuge in the Splinters, a desert wilderness where lawlessness abounds and the already stagnant economy is controlled by gunslingers and thieves.

Escaping into the heart of the Splinters aboard a train, Lindsay's freedom is only fleeting when he is confronted by a trigger-happy outlaw by the name of Finch, who seems to know more about the doctor than he's willing to reveal. Petrified and defenseless, Lindsay is taken captive by the man and his menacing gang under the pretense that his medical trade is desired among their ranks. The longer Lindsay hides behind the protection of gunslingers, however, the more he learns about the fierce, charming, and most of all mysterious man only known as Finch--and his unprecedented discoveries entwine them together in a fight or flight for their lives.

But before that, I just wanted to say that I got a job at Barnes and Noble last week. I really love it, even though I work in the music/movies department and not the book department like I wanted. YET.

STILL AWESOME. The discount is amazing. 50% off coffee and food from the inter-connected Starbucks, too. Oh god <3

... okay uh. Typing speed test.

107 words

YAY. The first time I tried, my dad was talking to me and telling me to turn my music down, and I got 95 WPM. This one is without distractions (even though my mom was asking me a question and I told her to GTFO during XD) so yeah. I'm pleased with this. Three wrong words only.

And what am I doing with my magic speed fingers, you may ask? Uh, NOT writing Boot Hill chapter two ;_; I know, I'm sorry. Um, I'm actually working very hard on my collaborative short story with lone-momo, Aladdin. I'm sorry for no updates in a while. I've been having a rough time inspiration- and life-wise. : < Bear with me, and please don't forget about Linds and Finch ;__;
